This year we are offering three opportunities for worship in the Sanctuary on Christmas Eve, with services at 4:00, 6:00 and 8:00 p.m.  The recently announced curfew in North Carolina has necessitated moving the 11:00 p.m. service to 8:00 p.m. Unfortunately, COVID-19 will force us to limit crowd size for social distancing, so we are restricting attendance at all three services to 100 persons.  We will be sitting on every third row, socially distanced, and wearing masks.  With this reduced…

Our Lenten journey toward Holy Week and Easter begins with Ash Wednesday, which is on February 17 this year.  On that night there will be a Service of Ashes at 6:45 p.m. in the Sanctuary.  It will be a time for worship, reflection, confession, and prayer.  There will not be a traditional imposition of ashes due to the need for social distancing.  Please plan to attend this service after supper.  Our Juniors will join us for this worship time.  Preschoolers…

Our music ministry is offering two opportunities for you to enjoy an evening of beautiful music during the Lenten season on the Sunday evenings of March 21 and 28.  Both services will be at 6:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary.  We are suggesting that if you can that you attend the music service on the night that you were not present in Sunday School and worship that morning — that would mean Week B classes would attend on March 21 and…

On Thursday evening, April 1, you are invited to the traditional Maundy Thursday service at 7:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary.  We will celebrate the Lord’s Supper, hear the music of the Adult and Youth Handbell Choirs, as well as music by the Sanctuary Choir, and conclude the service with the Tenebrae — the service of shadows. Easter Sunday is April 4.  In order to allow as many persons as possible to be present on Easter Sunday morning for worship, we are offering this schedule.  First, there will be no Sunday School and no Sunrise Service that day.  There will be three worship opportunities in the Sanctuary — at 8:00 a.m., 9:30 a.m., and 11:00 a.m.  As we did at Christmas Eve, we will have 100 tickets available for each of the three services.  This will allow…

On Sunday evening, April 11, we will be celebrating the ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper in the Sanctuary beginning at 6:30 p.m.  We have two girls in our Juniors Ministry, Paige Robertson and Kylie Turner, to be baptized in worship that night.  Let us all celebrate that we have wonderful young persons to baptize and support them with our prayers and presence.  This would be a wonderful opportunity for parents to bring their children to witness the celebration of…

Sunday morning, May 9, we will observe our Mother’s Day tradition of the Parent/Child Dedication Service.  If a baby has been born in your family in the past year or if you decided not to participate in the Father’s Day Dedication last year due to Covid-19 concerns, we would love for you to participate this year.  Letters were mailed to families this week, but if you did not receive a letter and wish to participate, please contact the church office tomorrow. …

June 6 is Senior Sunday at ZBC – our high school graduates in the Class of 2021 will wear their caps and gowns, process in worship, receive gift Bibles from the congregation and gifts from the Gifting Ministry, enjoy a post-worship time of picture taking and exchanging best wishes in the Courtyard, and then enjoy lunch at the home of Jack and Barbara Glasgow.  Please let us know if you will be participating no later than Wednesday, June 2.           College…

On Sunday, August 29 we want to celebrate our Sunday School ministry here at Zebulon Baptist.  In worship the sermon will be “A Life Changing Act:  Studying Scripture in Community.”  At the end of worship, we will call to the front of the church children who will be promoting to new classes in September.  If you child will be entering kindergarten, 2nd, 4th, 6th, or 8th grade this year, they will be recognized in worship.  We hope that all of…

We will extend our offer of 8:00 a.m. morning worship through the five weeks of October in the midst of the spike in COVID cases.  The 8:00 a.m. service practices social distancing, makes masks mandatory, has played music, and “no contact” in exchanging greetings or giving out bulletins.  Take advantage of this early worship opportunity during October if you would feel more comfortable in this environment.

Pepper Choplin has written a beautiful new Christmas musical that our Sanctuary Choir will perform, “The Seven Noels:  Songs to Light the World.”  Invite neighbors, family, and friends to join you for this night of Christmas music.  It start at 6:00 p.m. and nursery is provided.  

The Music Mates, Cherubs, Juniors, and Youth will all present their Christmas music in this service that concludes with bringing forward our gifts for children and youth in our Christmas benevolence ministry.  This beloved tradition begins at 6:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary with nursery provided for infants and toddlers.  

Make worship a part of your Christmas by worshiping at one of the two Christmas Eve services on Friday, December 24.  The first service begins at 4:00 p.m. with the second beginning at 8:00 p.m.  Nursery for preschoolers will be provided.  At each service we will sing carols, celebrate communion, read the Christmas story, light the Christ candle, enjoy beautiful Christmas music, hear the pastor’s Christmas message, and conclude the service with lighting our own candles and singing together, “Silent…

A service of ordination to the gospel ministry has been rescheduled for Shannon Speller on Sunday evening, February 27, at 6:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Shannon has been examined by an ordination council of our church on January 2 at 4:00 p.m.; they wholeheartedly recommended that the church go forward with her ordination. Join us in the sanctuary at 6:45 p.m. for our Ash Wednesday service. We will celebrate the “Imposition of Ashes” during our Worship. Mike Cogdill will bring our meditation message for this service. Our Sanctuary Choir will sing “Speak to Me in Ashes.” Adults and Juniors are invited to participate in this beautiful service of reflection and confession. Our Sanctuary Choir will present the wonderful musical The Shadow of the Cross by Lloyd Larson on this Sunday evening, April 3 at 6:30 p.m. The choir will be accompanied by piano, flute, oboe, saxophone, and cello. You will want to experience this beautiful and moving musical presentation of familiar hymns and anthems. Please invite your family, friends, and neighbors to join you for The Shadow of the Cross. Sunday, April 10 at 6:30 p.m. will be an exciting evening on our church campus. Our children ages Preschool through Juniors will have a time of sharing their Easter music, followed by an Easter Egg Hunt. After we enjoy hearing all the beautiful singing, we will divide into age groups and hunt for eggs. More instructions will be given at the time of the hunt. Tenebrae with Communion Service at 7:30 p.m.

Our Music Mates Choir (preschoolers) will start the evening by singing their music followed by our Cherub Choir (children in grades K-3rd grade) who will then present their music. Nursery will be provided.

We will celebrate our ZBC tradition of baby dedication on Mother’s Day. Parents will present themselves and their child to God and to the church, and we as a congregation will pledge our support and commitment to them.

Called is a wonderful musical based on Ephesians 4:1 which reads: “Live a life worthy of the calling you have received.” It reminds us that God is not calling you to be someone else. Sunday, August 27, our children will be recognized in our worship service for their year in Sunday School.  All children will receive a certificate of participation and children who will be promoted into the Kindergarten and the Junior classes will be receiving their new Bibles.  We are so proud of our children and their participation in Sunday School.
