ZBC – Building D

We are offering two opportunities for in-person conversation at church for adults.  The small groups are limited to the first 12 persons to sign up. We will meet in front of Building D, weather permitting, where we enjoyed “Sweet Tea and Theology” last summer.  Bring your own lawn chair and set it up six feet or more from the nearest participant.  The groups will take place on Monday night, June 8, and on Sunday night, June 14, with both groups…

Christian Mysticism is “experiencing” the presence of God.  The practice can include contemplation, vision meditation, and/or devotion.  It is based on personal experience and not on church doctrine.  Historically, the trouble has been that what one person may see as a true experience with God, another may see as heresy.  And yet, the words of the mystics persevere to this day and still resonate with many searching for a deeper experience of God. Last summer a number of ZBC members enjoyed weekly discussions called “Sweet Tea and Theology”.  You simply bring an outdoor chair, pour a glass of iced tea, and join in an open conversation about faith and life with friends.  We will meet on the patio on the Shepherd School Road side of Building D unless extreme heat or storms bring us inside.  We will get started at 6:30 p.m. and conclude by 8:00 p.m.  Jack Glasgow will facilitate these conversations…

In the past we called it “Sweet Tea and Theology.”  In reality, the first goal was to create a safe space for persons to share openly and transparently with one another – in a space where there is no judgment, no condemnation, no shaming, and no breach of confidence.  The second goal was to see the conversation as sacred – a conversation among sisters and brothers in Christ where the Holy Spirit is surely present and active.  So this year we…
